Charles received the national cartoonist society award in 1962, the first two time reuben award in 1955 and 1964 and inducted into the united states hockey hall of fame, along with the congressional gold medal, the highest civilian honer the United states Legislature can give. In his later life, Schulz didn't retire from Peanuts until he suffered several strokes. Schulz influenced many people with his unique writing style, such as Bill Watterson, creator of Calvin and Hobbes.
